Students entering the Drug Awareness Speech Contest have an opportunity to win up to $4,500 in scholarships. All applicants must be sponsored by a Lions Club within District 2-E2. The Lions Club and/or District 2-E2 pay all entry fees for the applicants they sponsor.
Applicants must be regularly enrolled in a public high school or a comparable education program in Texas, as a Junior or Senior in High School with intentions of attending a College or University upon graduation.
Students compete for the District 2-E2 Drug Awareness Speech Contest on January 20 , 2024, at Irma Marsh Middle School, 415 Hagg Drive, Fort Worth, Tx 76114.
Finalists will compete for the MD2 Texas Lions Drug Awareness Speech Contest on May 4, 2024. This year’s State contest is offered online.
The First Place Winner will be required to present his or her speech at the MD-2 Texas Lions Convention Opportunities for Youth Luncheon on Saturday, May 18, 2024 in Amarillo, TX. First Place Winners who do not attend the State Convention to present their essays will forfeit their scholarship award unless there is a medical or family emergency. High School Graduation or school trips do not qualify as an emergency.
